Xuanzang, also known as Genjou in Japan, is a demon in the series.
History
Xuanzang Sanzang was a Chinese Buddhist monk who traveled to India to bring back Buddhist scriptures to China during the Tang Dynasty. Authored the Great Tang Records on the Western Regions (Dà Táng Xīyù Jì). The Chinese novel Journey to the West is inspired by his autobigraphy which he wrote after travels. In Japan, he is known as Genjo Sanzo. He is said to be assisted by Longma, Sun Wukong, Zhu Baijie and Sha Wujing along the way.
