Warpulgisnacht is the name of a "witch" (a type of monster evolved from magical girls that have (inevitably) fallen into despair) that was said to be the strongest one in existence. The name is merely a moniker given by magical girls and its real name is unknown. The creature will always attack during a set day in Homura's time loops, requiring Madoka to become a magical girl herself to kill it. This almost always results in either Madoka dying or transforming into an apocalyptic witch monster herself.
