History

The wakizashi is a traditionally made Japanese sword worn by the samurai in feudal Japan, first produced in 1336 during the Muromachi period. In addition to being an auxiliary sword, the wakizashi was also used for close quarters fighting, beheading a defeated opponent, and sometimes to commit seppuku.
