History[]
Vulcan, also known as Vulcanus, Volcanus or Mulciber, is the Roman god of fire, volcanoes, deserts, smithing, metalworking, and the forge. He also has associations as a god of male fertility. Vulcan is said to be the patron of artists and inventors. He was often seen as a counterpart to Greek god Hephaestus and the Etruscan God Sethlans.
He is the son of Jupiter and Juno, and the husband of the goddess Venus, though she often cheats on him with the god Mars, who is also his brother.
Vulcanus is Tatsuya Suou's initial Persona. He appears for the first time in the game after Tatsuya is attacked by Eikichi Mishina in Sumaru Prison. The symbolism for the flames on his shoulder come from the lighter Jun Kurosu gave as a gift to Tatsuya. If Tatsuya has made all the right choices to obtain all the Prime Personas of Rhadamanthus, Eros and Maia, after the Mt. Iwato scenario Philemon will offer Vulcanus Prime for being a potent leader of the group.
