Vine, also known as Viné or Vinea, is the 45th of the 72 demonic spirits of the Ars Goetia. He is an earl and also a king of Hell with 36 legions of demons at his command. He is portrayed as an anthropomorphic lion holding a snake in his hand and riding a black horse. He tells of past, present and future, discovers witches and hidden objects, creates storms, make water rough by the means of them of storms, brings walls down and builds towers. According to Rudd, Vine is opposed by the Shemhamphorasch angel Sealiah.
The etymology of his name seems to be the Latin word "vinea," vine, that is also the name given to an ancient war machine made of wood and covered with leather and branches, used to overthrow walls.
