Vesta is the virgin goddess of the hearth, chastity, home family and sexuality in Roman mythology. With fire as her ruling element, Vesta was a passionate goddess. Unlike her other siblings, Vesta chose not to get married, giving herself for others. Her counterpart in Greek mythology is Hestia.
She was a daughter of Saturn and Ops, and the eldest sister to Pluto, Ceres, Juno, Neptune and Jupiter. The myths depicting Vesta were few and were limited to tales of miraculous impregnation by a phallus appearing in the flames of the hearth, the manifestation of the goddess.
Much like her Greek counterpart, she was an important goddess who blessed the domestic matters of the Roman citizens, often being even depicted as a living flame, rather than a female goddess. She had her own group of priestesses called the Vestal Virgins, or Vestals, that served her.
Vesta is Yukino Mayuzumi'sinitial Persona and has balanced growth stats. She may be recreated in the Velvet Room utilizing gems. However, she has poor compatibility with everyone except Yukino. When returned to the Velvet Room at MAX Rank, she will yield a Soma.

Trivia[]
Her design in Persona 2 is a reference to the "Vesta" brand lighter sold in hundred yen stores (equivalent to dollar stores).
This is parodied in the drama CD Persona 2: Innocent Sin ~ The Errors of Their Youth track 10 "Bomb Shelter Imitation Hell" in which Yukino does carry a hundred yen lighter with her, even though the brand of the lighter is not named.
