This article compiles a list of unused and removed content in Persona 5: The Phantom X. This specifically refers to unseen content in early trailers, beta versions and removed content in each version.

Alpha and Closed Beta[]

Code Name X[]

Perfect world revealed a trailer teasing a project in April, 2021 under the name "Code Name X." It features multiple differences not seen in the final game.

Nagisa Kamisiro[]

The protagonist, Nagisa Kamisiro, seemingly had a different design. He was shown wearing a hooded outfit and seemingly had darker hair, his phone was also black instead of red like in the final game. A brief character description was released along with the trailer that states his age to be 15 rather than 16-17. It also hinted that he had a “dark past,” but it has not been specified what it refers to and was not mentioned in the final game.

Yukimi Fujikawa[]

Yukimi Fujikawa was named Shinkawa Yukiji (沈川雪时) in her character description. She is stated to value justice, which is in line with her wanting to become a lawyer in the final game, although it is stated that she is willing to use unconventional or extreme measures to achieve her goals, which may hint that she originally had a bigger role in the game rather than a side character which may have been antagonistic to the protagonist. She was also shown to be associated with/capable of hacking in the Code Name X trailer.

First Beta[]

Content from the first beta of Persona 5: The Phantom X.

Thieves[]

The thieves screen used for upgrading characters had a different background in the first beta, featuring a city rather than a red wall with the characters code name.

Synergy[]

The background of the synergy menu used to be the Shibuya Acessway. Whenever the protagonist ranked up a synergy, the animation used to depict chains, this animation was changed to depict Newton's Cradle instead.

Contract[]

Whenever a character summon was initiated, the animation used to show Igor creating a ticket. In the final game, this was changed to signing Merope’s contract.

Arcanas[]

During the first beta of Persona 5: The Phantom X, data-mining shows that Lufel, Motoha Arai, Seiji Shiratori, Kotone Montagne, and Yukimi Fujikawa, as well as Leo Kamiyama via an unused image, had Arcanas associated with them. These data were removed as of the second beta and no character is tied to an Arcana in the final game.

  • Lufel's Arcana is "Hope"
  • Motoha's Arcana is "Strength"
  • Yukimi's Arcana is "Judgement"
  • Seijis Arcana is "Freedom"
  • Kotone's Arcana is "Glory"
  • Leo's Arcana, according to his unused card is "Star"
    • In addition, Joker's Arcana is listed as "Trickster" instead of "Fool"

Velvet Room Door[]

Prior to meeting Tomoko Noge, the Protagonist would run into Merope in the subway creating a Velvet Room door on top of a poster of Rise Kujikawa. This scene isn’t present in the final game.

Café Leblanc[]

Initially, Leblanc was given the generic name “coffee” instead of its original name. Another notable difference is that Ena Kageyama worked at Leblanc, in the final game she instead works at coffee shop in Shinjuku and later opens her own coffee shop in Kichijoji. As for Leblanc itself, in the final game it serves as a city life location the protagonist can travel to, to meet with the Phantom Thieves of Hearts although it’s hinted to be connected to the Metaverse.

Seiji Shiratori[]

Initiallly Seiji Shiratori's code name used to just be his own name but was changed to Fleuret in the third beta. He is also one of four characters who’s codename has changed since he released alongside Kiyoshi, Leo and Tomoko. Seiji's All out Attack Artwork is different prior to Third Beta.

Code Name Change[]

Tomoko Noge's codename was initially Kotomo but was changed in Beta 3 to Moko,

Kiyoshi Kurotani's codename was initially Kii but was changed in Beta 3 to Key.

Cut In[]

Official Release and Onward[]

ThievesDen[]

Yukimi Fujikawa and Sumire Yoshizawa, who is still called Kasumi in this game, had their transformation icons changed. When they were first added in the Den, Yukimi's icon had her old design with the glasses, and Sumire's icon had her hair down, akin to her Royal icon prior to completing her Confidant. This would be changed in a later update so Yukimi now has her current design and Sumire now has her hair up like Kasumi.

Phantom Thieves and Phantom Idols[]

Tropical Motoha Arai[]

Since Ver 4.3 CH server and subsequence JP and Global Ver 2.1 release, Tropical Motoha's All-Out Artwork has changed

Riko Tanemura Swimsuit costume[]

In Ver 4.3 CH server, there is a artwork for Vast Form Swimsuit Outfit, but was quickly changed to the current version

Synergy[]

During the 4.0 Update and subsequent JP, Global and SEA server launch release, the synergy menu was altered. The features of each character was altered, the weight of all female characters were made a secret, the ages of high school and college students was changed to reflect their year as opposed to exact age and each character's zodiac sign was removed.

Minami Miyashita[]

Minami Miyashita was In the initial source stated as a third-year student, but was later changed to first-year.

Mayumi Hashimoto[]

Mayumi Hashimoto was In the initial source stated as a third-year student, but was later changed to second-year.
