Training is a mechanic in Persona 5.

Persona 5[]
Home Training[]
The protagonist is able to train at Café Leblanc, by suspending from one of the beams in the attic. It can be accessed by interacting with the chair between the desk and bed. The protagonist is required to clean the attic beforehand (which can be done from April 18 onwards). When he walks up to his attic the first time after doing this, Morgana will prompt him with the idea to use his chair and the ceiling beam to train.
When performing the activity, time passes. Initially, he is granted an HP boost, and with every four visits, the total grows. This applies for four stages separated by four visits. However, on every last fourth training, the protagonist only gains 1 HP, with every visit after finishing the final stage doing the same.[1]
During the daytime on holidays, the protagonist has the option to train at home a second time.[1] The second time is counted as an individual visit, as such the progression of the activity is sped up like usual. For example, should the protagonist perform the activity on his 3rd visit, doing it a second time will also count it as his 4th.

---|---|---|
1st to 3rd | 5 HP | First Stage |

Gym Training[]
"Here we are... Protein Lovers gym! It's pay per visit, so you don't gotta worry about any bullshit contracts or nothing. The equipment's kinda crappy, but they got tons of variety. Plus, it's real damn cheap. Totally worth, even without a pool or hot tub."
The protagonist is able train at Protein Lovers Gym in Shibuya for a fee of 2,000 yen per visit once the protagonist advances either Ryuji Sakamoto's Confidant to Rank 5 or Ann Takamaki's Confidant to Rank 8. The system is similar to training at home; however, he is able to boost his SP as well.[1]

Protein[]
Drinking a protein items before a training session boosts the efficiency of the protagonist's training. For each training session, the protagonist is able to consume a single bottle of protein of his choice, which adds on to the total result of his training.[1]
During days off while training at home, protein items are only active for a single session, and a separate bottle needs to be taken for its effects to apply in the second training.
Moist Protein is only available during rainy weather, and only 1 can be bought at a time.

Persona 5 Royal[]
Home Training[]
In Persona 5 Royal, the system has been simplified, where the protagonist's HP gain no longer goes down over time. Instead, the four visits in each stage all share a value, and the 16th visit and after is the same as the final stage.[2] Home Training can now also be done on days with restricted evening free time, though it will still be unavailable on some of these days (usually when the protagonist has visited the Metaverse during that day for plot reasons).

---|---|---|
1st to 4th | 5 HP | First Stage |

Persona 5 Royal's protein system has been modified. In addition to the normal and Moist Protein, a third, new Imported Protein has been added, which first becomes available on June 5th. Only 1 Imported Protein can be bought every month, and it restocks on the 1st.[2]

Quotes[]
General[]
"A sports gym, huh? It's admirable that you want to train, but to go so far as to pay money to do it? Why not just train in your room? That's more economical."
Home Training[]
"Without further ado, let's begin your training!"
"All right, let's do this. Let's see your fighting spirit!"
"All right, let's begin the workout."
"All right, you can do this! Clear your mind and focus on your center! Don't give up! Push past your limit!"
"Wow, that's a good pace! Keep it up! Don't give up! Push past your limit!"
"Ignore my heaviness! The weight is all in your mind! ...*snicker* This is more fun than I thought."
"I have nothing more to say... Pick your own pace, and work hard."
"Hey, are you all right? You haven't built much muscle, so don't push yourself."
"Good job. Let's keep up the good work!"
"Looks like your training has lost its effectiveness. Maybe we should push you harder next time."
"You were able to do more than before, but don't push yourself too much..."
"Seems like you're getting the hang of this... I'll be sure to help you next time."
"I thought regular pull-ups weren't good enough anymore... Perhaps I pushed you too hard."
"You're doing these like I'm not even here, I'm impressed! Let's try a different method next time."
"I guess that was hard, even for you... I could feel your determination though."
"It seems like you're getting to used to this. Maybe this is the limit of what we can do at home..."
"Mm-hmm. It was a nice workout, as always."
Gym Training[]
"Hey! Welcome! You came here with your friend the other day, right? I'm happy you could come back! Now... I recommend using this equipment, since you're a beginner. This is a treadmill. This will, of course, improve your physical stamina. You'll also learn some mental control by regularly checking your heart rate."
"Seems like you've been working out a lot. Why don't you try training with this next? This is a bench press. It will increase your strength, of course. It'll also make you mentally stronger since you need to keep a consistent rhythm and form."
"You've improved a lot since I last saw you. Why don't you try training with this next!? This is a wooden dummy. It's great for martial arts training. You know, karate, Wing Chun... You hit it as you perform some kata--practice moves--and you'll develop physical stamina. You'll also be training yourself mentally by being mindful of the form and flow of your movements."
"Hey, you're still going at it. It seems like you're getting pretty good at this. If you think of this wooden dummy as your friend, not just a tool, you'll get even better results. Well... I don't think there's much more I can teach you. Keep up the good work!"
"Well, let's begin your workout."
"You're running pretty fast. Be careful. You'll get tired out If you don't pace yourself well."
"All right, let's be mindful of your pace. You don't want to make the same mistake as last time."
"Seems like you're doing well! Be careful, and watch your heart rate."
"Oooh... That looks heavy. Hey, your form's off."
"Well, that looks heavy... as usual. Hey! Your rhythm's breaking down."
"Seems like you're doing well! There's no problems with your rhythm or form!"
"You still look awkward doing this. Maybe it's because you just learned the kata?"
"It seems you're starting to get the hang of the kata, but you still look a bit clumsy..."
"You still look a little clumsy, but you're much better than when you started."
"Oooh... That personal trainer's advice is really working. You're moving much better than before."
"Nice, you're getting better at this. The sounds when you hit that dummy are relaxing somehow."
"Your movements look like a dance! It seems you gained some mastery from your wooden dummy training..."
"...Hey, are you still alive? That was quite a fall, there."
"Good work. Keep it up, just like this!"
"You're too used to this equipment to get any great results. Let's try something new next time."
"Lifting that much weight was difficult, wasn't it...?"
"You're getting used to this, too... Let's try out some other equipment next time."
"You can't just go full throttle from the very beginning. You need to build up your stamina first..."
"You're getting pretty used to this. What should we do next time?"
"You seem tired. Don't push yourself..."
"I think you can go toe to toe with a master now! You won't grow much more by training this way."
"You've done well. I didn't think you'd make it this far. All I can do now is watch over you..."
