Tlaloc ("Nectar of the Earth" in nahuatl) is an important deity in Aztec lore, governing over rain, fertility and water. He however, was feared for his abilities to send hail, thunder and lightning, according to Aztec lore, those who died due to lightning and water-related accidents were sent to Tlaloc's domain, Tlalocan, in the afterlife.
