Tangata Manu is the name of the Birdman cult (along with being a species) that existed on Easter Island, the chief god of the Tanagata Manu is Make-make, or also Tangata Manu. A competition is held to decide the tribe's leader, where one must swim to a nearby island and fetch a bird egg. The first to return is given the title of Tangata Manu ("bird man") and great authority.
The Tanagata Manu was discouraged by missionaries in the 1860s, however the Tanagata Manu's popularity and memory was not erased and it is still present in decoration of the island's church.

Tangata Manu can be found in the 3rd stratum of Naraku and temporarily in Alraune's Domain. Flynn must have the Demolingual App in order to communicate with it. Tangata Manu can teach Flynn the Dream Needle and Sukukaja skills through its Demon Whisper.
Tangata Manu must be hunted in the Challenge Quest "A Drunkard's Best Friend." Six Birdman Livers dropped by Tangata Manu must be delivered to K's Tavern in order to complete the quest.
Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse[]
Tangata Manu can be found inside the Toyosu Shelter and the Konganji Passage in Ginza. It can teach the Makakaja, Dream Needle and Mazan skills through its Demon Whisper. Tangata Manu benefits from learning support, ailment and force skills.
