Takami Shimotsuna is a character from Persona 5: The Phantom X.

Appearances[]

Design[]

Shimotsuna has black hair, dark red upper lip and dark pink red lower lip and red eyes, she wears pink top, a colorful skirt, and fair skin colored high heeled pumps with diamonds, jeweled heart shaped earrings with small diamonds, pearl necklace with the emerald and pearl pattern necklace.

Shadow Shimotsuna has a pale white skin, red eye shadow, golden eyes, red fingernails, she wears a royal robe and a jeweled antenna shaped crown that has pearls and emeralds on it. She wields a scepter that functions as a tape recorder.

Personality[]

Shimotsuna is a callous and demanding woman who viciously snaps at people when she doesn't get her way. She displays a very elitist attitude towards people, delineating between commoners and people with people with fame and status. She sees commoners as mere ants, and sees people with status as steeping stones. She will lambast and threaten anyone who she deems an obstacle, or insults her, or denies her, or even merely annoys her.

She is quick to use the threat of libel to get people to do her bidding, and regularly uses false stories to punish people to get her way. Her palace indicates that she delusionally believes her actions are justified as a means to bringing people to justice by exposing their supposed indiscretions, indicated by the cognitive versions of her victims believing her rumors and being grateful, revealing that she is also convinced that her lies are in actuality truths. However in reality, her rumor-mongering is incredibly self-serving and spiteful, apathetic to reality or the potential harm she causes.

She has an obsession with Shoki Ikenami and his family, especially Shoki himself and his mother. She has stalked Ikenami and his family, regularly intrudes into his life to under the pretense of interviews, and uses her position (as the person who brought him to fame in the first place, and as an influential figure in the industry) to get him to obey. She also tries to push unwanted opportunities to raise his status and fame in complete dismissal towards his desires. Though she is generally rude to most people (unless she is trying to impress them), she is especially petty towards women and girls near Ikenami. Possessively, she talks down the people closest to Ikenami, including his parents, but particularly those who speak up for him. She goes as far as trying to convince the young actor that his mother never truly loved him, all in a seeming effort to isolate him and keep him to herself. This, alongside her unwelcome displays of affection towards other young men such as Shun and the protagonist strongly suggest predatory behavior.

Profile[]

Persona 5: The Phantom X[]

"Chapter 4: The Melancholy of the Masked Actor"[]

After Shoki Ikenami finished the rehearsal at Kokatsu Academy, Shimotsuna and her secretary approach him and two of his fans. Shimotsuna, wanting to interview Ikenami, loses patience with the two girls when they won't leave them alone, and starts to threaten them with a voice recorder by asking for their class and their names. Ikenami defends them, confronting Shimotsuna about pestering his fans. Shimotsuna requests going to eat with him at the restaurant which her secretary have to make reservations, but when Ikenami said he just finished for today, she continues to insist. Motoha Arai, Riko Tanemura, and Aran Hirano, leading the protagonist and Shun Kanou came to his rescue, claiming that a teacher needed Ikenami, giving him an out. Shimotsuna is furious and takes it out on her secretary, who have to cancel the reservation for the restaurant after being yelled at by her, she firing him because she is tired of looking at his face and replacing him with the new secretary, Daichi Osaka.

When the protagonist, Lufel, Motoha, Shun, Riko, Aran and Ikenami go to Shibuya for prop shopping, Shimotsuna had approaches Shoki again. She questions who the other students are, and she tries snap a picture. Riko requests that she not photograph them on account they’re in the middle of club activity. Shimotsuna says she is only photographing Shoki, saying the girls in her eyes are not worthy enough to be photographed. Annoyed, she warns the girls not to stick too closely to Ikenami, and threatened they could get cyber-bullied. When Shun comes to their defenses, she sees the boys are worthy of her eyes and gushes over their appearances. Daichi reminds her that they're ordinary students and she not need to go overboard, but she snaps at him for offering unwanted advice, calling him to a dog. Motoha tries to come to his defense, but he stops her and fearfully apologizes to her employer for questioning her choices in men so he can keep his job. Shimotsuna asks Shoki to join her for tea, and he reluctantly agrees to join her. Lufel begins to suspect that Shoki's desires are being stolen by Shimotsuna. They later discover she has a Palace, but are prevented from exploring deeper due to the interference of strong shadows.

Aran later confirms that Shimotsuna is certified as a Phantom. The Phantom Thieves find her palace, but are prevented from investigating further due to strong shadows.

Later on, Shimotsuna intrudes into Kokatsu Academy with Daichi and her colleague Kokoro, a famous independent producer, in tow. When she is refused entry by Kumi Katayama (due to not having permission from the school), she begins harassing the teacher. When Ikenami arrives to see the commotion, Shimotsuna surprises Ikenami with an opportunity work with Kokoro, who insists that Ikenami is a perfect fit for the lead role in his web series themed around abusive parents, having been told by Shimotsuna that Ikenami's parents were abusive and thus all the more appropriate for the role. Annoyed at Shimotsuna's dismissal of the play and of his friends and disturbed at the fact that the show's filming would prevent him from enjoying his time at school due to having year-long production schedule, Ikenami turns the opportunity down, insisting that while he is grateful, the play and the time at school matter to him. He also explains that his parents aren't abusive, and were always good and kind to him. Kokoro understands, realizing Shimotsuna had misled him, and seeing Ikenami's passion for it, grows interested in seeing the school play himself. However, Shimotsuna is incensed at being shot down and losing face in front of Kokoro, and threatens to ruin Ikenami's reputation as well as those of the people he cares about, should he not submit to her will. She left, claiming to prepare information about Shoki's parents.

When the Phantom Thieves enter her palace, Ikenami learns that Shimotsuna had been the one to tarnish his mother's name and thus the one who instigated his family's suffering. When confronting Shadow Shimotsuna, she transforms Motoha and Riko, and then later Shun and Lufei into magazines in retaliation for insulting her, leaving just Wonder and Ikenami left. Ikenami prepares to submit to protect the others, but asks that Shimotsuna leave his parents alone as well, leading Shimotsuna incredulous over Ikenami's belief in them. She questions his mother's sincerity and character, and insists her portrayal as an adulterer and liar had been true all along, and even begins to question Ikenami's sincerity as a person due to his penchant for putting on a facade and keeping people at a distance, and insist that he's also a bad person that only Shimotsuna can only truly love. Encouraged by the Phantom Thieves however, Ikenami finds his resolve against her lies. He pretends to comply with her, tricking her into letting her guard down, steals her magic recorder pen-scepter and freeing the trapped Phantom Theives. He awakens his persona, Ghino. With Ikenami joining them, the Phantom Thieves begin their plans to steal Shimotsuna's treasure and change her heart.
