Tae "Kichou" Asakura is a character from the Devil Summoner series.
Appearances[]
- Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army
- Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon
Personality[]
She considers herself a "modern woman." Narumi, though valuing her as a friend and client, nonetheless is annoyed by her tendencies to go to his office for coffee and to hand him her business card, of which he has "enough to build a house." She in turn considers him a lazy bum who lets Raidou do most of the work.
Though Tae frequently chases Raidou looking for clues to the supernatural events in The Capital, she is actually afraid of ghosts and faints when dealing with them. Despite this weakness, her ability to sniff out a story makes her a valuable resource to Raidou's investigations.
Profile[]
Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army[]
She writes for the Capital Daily, using the pen name of "Kichou Asakura," in honor of the pioneering feminist Hiratsuka Raichou. She also works to become an anthropologist.
She often hires Raidou to investigate rumors and occurrences around the Capital or in escort missions she fears could turn sour. Both of these occurred during the events of the rise of the Soulless Army, she hired him both to investigate the Red Cape sightings and to protect her during her meeting with the Army defector, Sadakichi; in a heavily guarded base. During the last mission, she was shunted to the Dark Realm and had to be rescued.
Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon[]
Tae goes ahead of Raidou and Narumi when they go to investigate the Tsukigata village in order to get them a place to act as their headquarters. At the beginning of Chapter 4, she will be taken hostage by the Tsukigata if Raidou is Law or Chaos. She makes friends with Nagi, and comes to like Akane Narita after meeting her later in the game.
Tae gives several Case Files that require Raidou to track down certain spots and take photos of them, which give Raidou Tae Stickers. Tae is one of the people Raidou sees in the Abysmal Realm at the end of the game and her despair at how women are treated summons the Pale Rider. She realizes afterwards that she must change things if they are to get better. If Raidou has all of Tae's stickers before the fight then she will be surprised by how serious he took her requests after the battle, and his reward for getting them is to see Tae in a Tsukigata village hot spring.

Etymology[]
- Tae's surname Asakura means "morning" (朝) (asa) and "warehouse, storehouse, barn, treasury, granary, cellar, magazine, godown, depository, elevator, storage place, repository, supply shed, grain elevator, stockpile, arsenal" (倉) (kura).
Trivia[]
- Tae's hairstyle is called the "bob cut," specifically the "shingle" variant, which became popular among women as a daring statement to oppose traditional value during the interwar era. This matches Tae's time when Japan began to be influenced by the western modern culture.
