Sudama, whose name means "lurking souls," are mischievous one footed spirits that roam the mountains, dwelling in large and ancient trees, rocks and rivers. Sudama are born from the pure essence of the rocks and trees of lush, green mountains where few humans have set foot. Sudama never cause trouble, and sometimes take human shape in order to watch over their mountain homes. Tradition holds that when you are in the mountains and get the feeling you are being watched, it is a Sudama watching you. They are sometimes identified with the Kodama.

Sudama appear regularly in the Shibuya field and the Shibuya-based Quartz instance. Within Quartz, there is a variant that uses a powerful suicide attack.

Shin Megami Tensei IV[]
Sudama can initially be encountered in the government office plaza area of Shinjuku while it is being occupied by the Jirae demons and later in Shibuya. Flynn must have the Demolingual App in order to converse with Sudama. It can teach Flynn the Shock and Pulinpa skills through its Demon Whisper.

Sudama appears as the initial demon of the Jirae race and can be located in the Kinshicho south exit shopping district area. It will be the subject of the tutorial on demon negotiation. It can teach Nanashi the Zio and Pulinpa skills through its Demon Whisper.

Sudama first appear as residents of the large Abscesses in the west part of Shiba Park, after going up the road to the upper areas from Hamamatsucho.

Sudama is the fourth Persona of the Hermit Arcana and can be found as a Shadow in the Chemdah area of Mementos, with the title "Noisy Mountain Spirit." It is one of four Personas to learn the Magaru skill and one of three Personas to learn Lucky Punch. Sudama is the first Persona to learn the Ambient Aid skill, but as it does not have its own bad status inflicting skills, they will need to be supplied through fusion. Sudama is the first Persona that the protagonist can use in battle that learns the Garula skill. When itemized through Electric Chair execution in the Velvet Room, Sudama yields a Magaru Skill Card.
