Steam's logo
Steam is a video game digital distribution service for personal computers by Valve. It initially launched as a software client on September 12, 2003, as means for the developers to distribute automatic updates for their games, before expanding onto opening for third-party publishers, and into an online web-based and digital storefront. Steam is the largest digital platform on PC, as the user interface is available in 28 languages, as well as having support for Microsoft Windows, macOS and Linux.
Although the service is innately designed for PC play, the Steam Deck, a portable console designed to run Steam games, went on sale on February 25, 2022.
Several old Atlus titles were ported on Steam starting from 2019, particularly the original Catherine and later Persona 4 Golden. As they were ported on an online client, they have received a simultaneous worldwide release. Persona 5 Strikers marks the first Atlus title to be simultaneously localized in the west.
Persona 4 Golden was one of the nominees in the "Best Soundtrack" category in the 2020 Steam Awards. In 2021, Persona 5 Strikers was nominated for the same category instead.
