Skyrunner Charadrius is a location and dungeon in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Appearances[]
Profile[]
The Skyrunner Charadrius is the only flying gauntlet runner that also serves as Louis' headquarters. It was originally built as a symbol of the royal army, and was the first to be put to practical use in the kingdom's history. Eventually, it became Louis' property.[1]
Louis named it after his real eldan name "Charadrius," itself referring to a type of Plover bird.
The party plans to send the protagonist and Gallica alone to infiltrate it during his soiree to find a cure to the prince's curse. However, when the protagonist snuck into Louis' personal headquarters, he was spotted by Junah and Glodell, the latter who reported to Louis. His incompetence foiled him, as not only did he leave to report the infiltration of the runner without locking the pair into Louis' chambers, he also ends up trying to take Junah hostage, who awakens her own Archetype and teams up with the protagonist to take him down. The arrogant roussainte man was killed by the king's election magic afterwards and the protagonist was able to get away with making a mess on the skyrunner by telling Louis a half-truth about Glodell looting his room and planning to betray him.
The runner contains a unique platforming section where the protagonist must jump between the blades to land inside its main body. Going in between the blades will result in an instant game over and force him to restart from the beginning of the section.
Failure to initiate the infiltration on the Charadrius within 13 days since unlocking it will result in an automatic game over where the party can no longer infiltrate it, and the prince is left to die. Once Glodell is defeated, the dungeon can no longer be revisited.
As his plans come closer to fruition, Louis orders his men to take the Charadrius to the Skybound Avatar, after which he turns everyone on board into humans. In his fight against the party in the Tyrant's Star, when Louis transforms into a human himself, his lower body is merged with the skyrunner. The Charadrius is destroyed along with Louis himself when the protagonist invokes the King archetype, and after the credits, it is shown its now overgrown ruins have become a tourist attraction.

- The mid-bosses encountered here actually survived the events of the game and are working for Basilio during the epilogue. In addition, Hector also survived the fight with Glodell and can be seen in Port Brilehaven following his owner's death.
