Skill Cards are a special type of item in the Persona series. They are items that can be used to give skills to Personas that they might not normally learn on their own.

Role[]
Megami Ibunroku Persona[]
The concept for Skill Cards began in Megami Ibunroku Persona, where they were known as Skill Tablets or Skill Stones, unrelated to the "Spell Cards" required to fuse Personas. In the first Persona, they can be used during Persona fusion to give the Persona a skill it wouldn't normally learn, although skills which conflict with its Type or Subtype cannot be learned. The skill is gained when the Persona ranks up to Rank 2 and takes priority over skill inheritance. Skill Tablets can also be used as consumable items during battle to cast the spell they would teach if used during Persona fusion.
Persona 2[]

In the Persona 2 duology, Skill Cards are used essentially the same way, except the learned skill is immediately usable. Like in the previous game, certain Skill Cards may be unusable depending on the Persona's type (for example, Aqua-element cards cannot be used on Fire-type Personas), and cannot be used to give a Persona more than eight skills, including Mutation and Rumor Skills. Skill Cards cannot, however, be used as consumable items to cast the spell they would normally teach. The symbol at the top of the Card's image indicates the skill's target, with ★ for single-target, ★★ for group-target and ∞ for all enemies.
In Eternal Punishment, Skill Cards can be bought from the Time Count, with a few cards available from the start and his inventory expanding as the party registers new cards with him, allowing him to copy them.
In addition, members of the Masked Circle apparently use Skill Cards to cast spells.
Persona 3 Portable / Reload[]
In Persona 3 Portable, Skill Cards can be obtained from every Persona by leveling them to a specific level (specified on the Persona's stat sheet). Like Heart Items, the protagonist can register a Persona in the compendium right before it gains its Skill Card in order to easily obtain as many of that Persona's cards as desired, so long as the protagonist can afford the Persona's summoning fee. Skill Cards can also be cloned at the Naganaki Shrine for free. However, the protagonist must give up the Skill Card, then return in five days or later to retrieve them, and only one Skill Card can be cloned at a time. Skill Cards can be used at any time, unlike in the previous two games where they can only be used during Persona creation. Skill Cards do not carry over in New Game Plus, so it is advised to use them to improve Personas stored in the compendium prior to beginning a new cycle.
In Persona 3 Reload, Skill Cards can be acquired from Treasure Chests while exploring Tartarus or the Abyss of Time and when picking red Sword cards in Shuffle Time. In the main story, Skill Cards can be duplicated by giving the Skill Card at the Naganaki Shrine though unlike in Portable, the original and the duplicated Skill Cards are given back to the protagonist immediately. The process can only be done once per day. Skill Cards are carried over in non-Mercilesss New Game+ cycles.
In Episode Aigis - The Answer, Aigis can duplicate Skill Cards by using the Vermillion Clock at the Desert of Doors (which is unlocked after the party views Ken Amada's past at the depths of the Cocytus door). However, she is required to spend one Twilight Fragment for each single duplication usage.
Persona 4 Golden[]
In Persona 4 Golden, that functionality remains, as the protagonist can extract Skill Cards from Personas at Chagall Café once they have obtained a skill with a card symbol next to it. He can also now turn over Skill Cards to Marie and register them independently of their Personas, allowing him to purchase the skills at any time. Naturally, like the Persona compendium, the stronger the skills, the larger the fee to purchase them. The Cards can now also be obtainable during Shuffle Time by choosing the Sword Arcana card; as it normally is with Shuffle Time, the more dangerous the dungeon, the better Skill Cards one can obtain.
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth[]
In Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, Skill Cards can be created in the Velvet Room. Skills can be extracted from a Sub-Persona for a fee, sacrificing the Sub-Persona in order to gain one of its skills (which is highlighted when viewed in the compendium) as a Skill Card. The Sub-Persona in question must have that skill in order to be elegible for extraction. This function becomes available after entering the 3rd Story of the Evil Spirit Club.
Skill Cards cannot be used on Sub-Personas. Instead, each party member's main Persona, with their moveset being greatly reduced in this game, has four slots dedicated to Skill Card use so that the player can customize their abilities. Skills granted this way can be replaced if the player tries to use a Skill Card when all of that party member's skill slots are used up. Skill Cards for passive skills which would cover weaknesses do not exist.
Persona 5[]
This topic is in need of research for the following reasons: * Categorize list of skills depending on what Confidant rank is needed for them to be learned. Preferably see if the skills have ranks. * Do inheritance types influence what skill cards can be taught to a Persona? This can be discussed on the article's talk page. |
In Persona 5, Skill Cards can be earned via chests, enemies, Mementos requests, and sacrificing certain Personas in the Velvet Room. Only Personas that the protagonist has can be customized by Skill Cards. In order to use a Skill Card, pick it on the items menu and use it on a Persona. To gain Skill Cards via executing Personas in the Velvet Room, the protagonist must have Blank Cards (which can be obtained from chests and enemies), in which one is consumed per execution.
Blank Cards can also be converted into Skill Cards the protagonist already possesses through Yusuke Kitagawa, who learns how to duplicate Skill Cards at the beginning of his Confidant. He will offer his services to the protagonist free of charge. The protagonist must give Yusuke the original Skill Card and a Blank Card for the entire duration of the process, and the process itself lasts until at least the following day to complete. Afterwards, the protagonist can talk to Yusuke to receive both cards. In addition, certain mid-to-high tier Skill Cards can't be duplicated until advancing the Confidant.
Yusuke's Card Duplication service is only available on days when he is hanging out in the Shibuya Underground Walkway, whether because he is available for a Confidant hangout that day or because he has duplicated a card and is ready to give it to the protagonist, or both. It is not available on December 22nd.
Persona 5 Royal[]
In Royal, Yusuke's Confidant abilities have been greatly altered. At rank 1, he can duplicate any Skill Card regardless of its level. After advancing his Confidant to rank 5, he can create any Skill Card he has duplicated before (including Skill Cards the protagonist has zero copies of). At rank 7, Yusuke can create or copy a Skill Card on the spot, negating the need to wait although he will only do this once per day. In addition, at rank 7, the protagonist can also ask Yusuke to create or copy Skill Cards while infiltrating Palaces by talking to him in a Safe Room. Prior to rank 7, Yusuke will also give back the Skill Cards when the protagonist calls the Phantom Thieves to meet up at their hideout.
As in Persona 5, outside of Palaces as noted above, Yusuke is only available to create or copy Skill Cards when he is hanging out in the Shibuya Underground Walkway, either because his Confidant is available that day or because he has created or copied a Skill Card that he is ready to give to the protagonist. Note that the latter condition does not apply after the protagonist has achieved rank 7 with the Emperor confidant, as Yusuke will create or copy Skill Cards instantly from then on.
During fusion alarms in the Velvet Room, Personas that can be itemized to create Skill Cards will create a stronger Skill Card than usual, such as Gun Boost becoming Gun Amp when itemizing White Rider. Additionally, fusion alarm accidents when itemizing empowered Personas can yield boost, amp, resist, null, repel, drain, dodge, and evade Skill Cards, including those that are otherwise impossible to obtain.
Blank Cards can also be purchased from Jose's Shop, or acquired from search objects on the Path of Kaitul or lower in Mementos during inclement weather such as rain.
Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth[]
Skill Cards in this game come in two varieties—Blank Cards and Wild Cards. They can only be used as an additional ingredient in a sacrificial fusion, causing the Persona receiving the experience to also receive a specific skill from the sacrifice. The Sub-Persona being sacrificed must know the correct skill (highlighted in their moveset) for a successful transfer.
Blank Cards are used to transfer skills to other Sub-Personas, while Wild Cards are used to transfer to Main Personas. Blank Cards are commonly obtained from fights with Rare Shadows and F.O.Es, while Wild Cards are rare drops from F.O.Es and may occasionally show up as hidden treasures or rewards from Special Screenings.
Blank Cards are first unlocked partway through Junessic Land, Area 3.
Persona 5 Strikers[]
Similarly to its predecessor, Skill Cards can be earned via chests, requests and by defeating Shadows. However, unlike Persona 5, Skill Cards cannot be obtained by sacrificing Personas due to the existence of Persona Points.
Some Skill Cards can only be obtained after completing a Request or by defeating enemies on Merciless difficulty (e.g. the various Drain & Null Affinity cards).
The protagonist can use Skill Cards whenever by going to their items. Only Personas that the protagonist has can be customized by Skill Cards like its previous games.
