Shugoshin (シュゴシン, Shugoshin) is a demon in the series.
History
Shugoshin means Protection Deity/God. He is a tutelary Deity. A tutelary (also tutelar) is a deity in the position of a guardian, patron or protector of a particular place, geographic feature, person, lineage, nation, culture or occupation in polytheistic or animist religion.

Shugoshin is the main antagonist of the game. He is the overseer of the worlds of Niflheim and Muspelheim which were born from the battle of Light & Darkness. He would bestow the power of Dark & Ice to Ice Apostle and Light & Fire to Flame Apostle, he would then oversee the endless war between the two worlds and their inhabitants. Desiring for the battle between Light & Darkness to continue, Shugoshin would order the Apostles to gather two people to become Gods of their own worlds. The two they would bring to him are Lena and Amy Kashihara. He would explain his motives to Jin and Jin when they arrive at his cave shrine in Auðumla Town.
He states that he keeps the war going to keep balance in the world. Later when the two confront him he fights the two to keep the cycle going. After his defeat he reveals his true demonic form: Zozuma in his battle against Jin and Sekundousu in his battle against Akira.
