Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse Prequel: Nikkari Side (真・女神転生IV Final前日談ニッカリ編) is a short story set shortly before the events of Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse. It was originally released in the Weekly Famitsu magazine issue #1418 and was written by Yusuke Miyata (宮田裕介), a scenario writer for Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse. It was rereleased alongside Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse Prequel: Asahi Side (真・女神転生IV Final前日談アサヒ編) in the Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse Official Complete Guide. It spans only 3 pages and has a single illustration by Ikumi Fukuda (フクダ イクミ), known for his work on Shin Megami Tensei IV DEMONIC GENE and the Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse Last Chronicle cards.

The story is shown from from the first person perspective of Nikkari, as he leads (in order of appearance) Manabu, Asahi and Nanashi on a mission to find weapons in a police station to assist Flynn in his final battle. Many hunters in Tokyo are searching for him so they can provide their support, he is referred to as the "Ray of Light" for the people of Tokyo.
Along the way, they find a decapitated body with missing legs and arms crushed beyond recognition. They enter the station through the roof of the neighbouring building, as the station's entrance is blocked. They sweep the building to ensure it's free of demons. Nikkari, Nanashi and Asahi encounter Dantalion on the sixth floor. Nikkari instructs Nanashi and Asahi to hide as he fights Dantalion, who is reading his thoughts. The story has an ambiguous ending, as it ends with Nikkari engaging Dantalion in combat, though his victory is implied.
Characters[]
- Nikkari: Protagonist. He is a veteran hunter who was alive before the bedrock ceiling over Tokyo appeared.
- Manabu: Senior hunter to Asahi and Nanashi. He teaches them to find relics.
- Asahi: An eager apprentice hunter.
- Nanashi: An apprentice hunter alongside Asahi. He is described as steadfast and is entirely silent throughout the story, communicating in only hand gestures.
- Dantalion: Antagonist. He refers to Lucifer as his master and can read thoughts.
