Releasing alongside Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey's 3DS Remake, Deep Strange Journey: Another Report takes place in the Schwarzwelt. Its events happen concurrently with the story of the game. focusing instead of the Gigantic's crew and their attempt to escape the Schwarzwelt.

Plot

The game begins with the same intro sequence as the game, with the UN's 5 ships being deployed to Antarctica and attempting to enter the Schwarzwelt. As they prepare, we are introduced to our main characters. Namely, the protagonist Jin, who is also Japanese-American, much like the protagonist of the game, as one of the other characters will note. Our supporting cast is Ash, Dahlia, Commander Zenon, Isaac, and many more crewmembers, all of which are aboard the Gigantic. The Gigantic is severely damaged by the turbulence and crashes into the Womb of Grief, stranding the crew. The team's main objective becomes to escape the Womb of Grief and obtain the Rosetta Stone from Wendigo, who is reigning over the area by sheer force. After an attack from the demons, Jin is able to recruit a Vouivre who becomes a significant character in the story, and divulges much of the aforementioned information about demons, the Schwarzwelt, and the Womb of Grief. On top of that, she elaborates that the Womb of Grief specifically, saps the life out of anyone in the sector, slowly, until they turn to stone. This further adds pressure on the team's need to escape.

Azazel and Wendigo play the role of the main antagonists, Wendigo being the large obstacle the Gigantic must overcome to escape, and Azazel pulling the strings in an attempt to claim the Rosetta Stone for himself. Azazel successfully infiltrates the crew, posing as the commander, and in the very end, his minions posthumously claim the lives of most of the crew, setting things up for the events of the game, as the Red Sprite discover the destroyed remains of the ship with no signs of life. That said, Jin, Dahlia, and Ash are the last survivors of the Gigantic, their fate left unknown as the story ends.

Trivia

• Vouivre's story arc is very similar to that of her Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 counterpart which occured in a timed event. The story revolved around a group of Vouivres who were being hunted for the gem in their foreheads, and slowly gaining the trust of Vince, joining him as his demon after learning human compassion.
