Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner Side Story: Lamentations of a Requiem is a spin off of The Sealed Soul.
It was published by Aspect as paperback on September 28, 1996. The author is Ryo Suzukaze who also wrote Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner Sealed Soul.
The cover illustration is drawn by Kazuma Kaneko and is colored by Shigenori Soejima , and the illustrations inside are drawn by Shigenori Soejima .
Plot[]
The stage is ancient Japan, and the story of the battle between Princess Inaruna's country and Yamato which was a war with the intention of unifying Wa (ancient Japan).
Characters[]
- Queen Ann: The main character of this novel. Queen of the Land of Qin. She is a descendant of a family that came to Japan from the continent. The queen's family has been recognized by the surrounding countries for its mysterious spiritual power for generations, and has fought off invasions from other countries despite its small size.
- Princess Inaruna: Daughter of Ann and princess of the Land of Qin. Like her mother, she possesses magical powers and can communicate with spirits. She has a lover named Enki, the most powerful warrior of the Qin clan, who is a close associate of her mother, and wants to marry her.
- Dumuzid: A citizen of the Qin clan. A young man who earns his living by hunting. He accidentally rescues Princess Inaruna while hunting in a ritual site that he is not allowed to enter.
- Nagatsunehiko: King of Ikoma, a neighboring country. He is tall and has a clear voice. He tries to cooperate with the Hata clan against Yamato.
- Nigihayahi & Tomiyasubime: They are the brother and sister-in-law of Nagatsunehiko, and are also husband and wife. The Nigihayahi is as strong as a demon, and is accompanied by a white fox. Tomiyasubime is a sorceress who performs divination called Taiyoku.
- The Great King of Yamato: is conquering the east from the west with powerful clans from various regions. He boasts great military power and plans to unify the whole country. He will mercilessly attack and destroy any country that does not join him.
