Sendai (仙台, Sendai)? is a location in Persona 5 Strikers.
History[]
Sendai (仙台市, Sendai-shi)? is the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, the largest city in the Tōhoku region, and the second largest city north of Tokyo. As of 1 June 2019, the city had a population of 1,089,372, and is one of Japan's 20 designated cities.
The modern-day city's founder was Date Masamune (伊達 政宗*)?, a legendary warrior and leader, or the powerful Daimyo in the Tohoku Region. In addition to being a thorough tactician, he's made more iconic for his missing eye caused from smallpox when he was a child then personally removed the infected eye, being referred to as Dokuganryu (独眼竜) or "One-Eyed Dragon of the Ōshu" because of it.
In the summer, the Sendai Tanabata Festival, the largest Tanabata (七夕*)? festival in Japan, is held. It's also notable for its Gyūtan (牛タン*)?, Japanese food made from grilled beef tongue. Sendai is also nicknamed the City of Trees (杜の都, Mori no Miyako)?, thanks to its lineup of zelkova trees on many of the main thoroughfares.
Sendai is the place where the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami occurred, on March 11th, 2011. It was the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in Japan as well as 4th most powerful in the world. This is the same event that took part in inspiring the producers of Persona 5 to have its story focus on Japan.[1]

Sendai is one of the locations the Phantom Thieves travel to during their summer vacation. They visit its Aoba-ku (青葉区*)? ward. One of the locations the protagonist travels to is Sendai Station (仙台駅, Sendai-eki)?, a major railway station decorated for the Tanabata festival.
The group meets a mysterious woman named Kuon Ichinose in a beef tongue shop, who seems to be enthusiastic for beef tongue. Ichinose works in a university nearby.
One of Ango Natsume's books, "Prince of Nightmares", has abnormal popularity in Sendai. However, it's not very popular elsewhere, if at all. This is because Ango is the Monarch of the Sendai Jail, allowing him influence over the city's culture. His fans attached numerous posters to advertise "Prince of Nightmares" around Sendai, one location being on the statue of Date Masamune, a cultural landmark in Sendai. They also binge spend on groceries he frequents, cause violent incidents against people who dress like characters in his book, a famous writer quitting because of him and buy up to 100 copies of the book, sometimes with loaned money. There are even banners congratulating Natsume for his success, hitting over 1 million copies thanks to his Jail-controlled fan base.
