Search Points (調査ポイント*)? are a mechanic in Shin Megami Tensei V.

Search Points refer to specific locations on the map that can yield an item or money upon being examined, but can also lead to a surprise battle instead. The pool of items that can be received from a search point are dependent on the sub-area they are in.
The Search Points require a Quest Navigator to be both visible on the map and dug out. The search points themselves spawn randomly, but are always on specific parts of the map.
Saving the game does not make note of the contents of search points, so reloading will yield a different drop.
