Runa DogenzakaGalleryQuotesConfidantParty

Runa Dogenzaka is a character from Persona 5: The Phantom X.

Appearances[]

Design[]

Runa has pale skin, short beige hair with a hairclip shaped like a dog's head on the right side and green eyes. She wears a yellow jacket with green lapels, paw patterns, brown belts with red star-shaped buckles around the cuffs over a white shirt with the letters "OGG" on colorful rectangles, a brown and green striped shirt tied around her hips, blue knee-high tights and chunky sneakers. She carries large purse with a plush paw, pink bone and dog charm.

As Howler, she wears an outfit meant to resemble a dog similar to Shichi-kun, consisting of a dog hood over a white mask, a collar with a bell hanging, a bodysuit with white panels in the center, black panels separating the yellow back, detached yellow sleeves with zippers to connect to the shoulders with two black belts on the upper arms, ending in clawed paws, black leggings with paw patterns on the sides of the stomach, a bushy dog tail and chunky yellow boots with paw patterns on the soles.

Personality[]

At the first sight, Runa is a very shy woman and speaks in a bit stammering way. However, once someone or herself start to talk or ask anything regarding about the character mascot, Shichi-kun, she will speaks with a high cheerful and exciting voice tone much to everyone's shock.

Profile[]

Persona 5: The Phantom X[]

Runa is a student at a vocational school specializing in fashion design. She is a very huge avid fan of a character mascot called Shichi-kun. When cleaning Shibuya, she was being harassed by a drunk man, but was rescued by the protagonist.

Etymology[]

  • Runa (琉七) consists of the kanji for "gem/lapis" (琉) (ru) and "seven" (七) (na).
  • Dogenzaka (道玄坂) consists of the kanji for "road/way" (道) (dou), "mysterious" (玄) (gen), and "slope/hillside" (坂) (saka/zaka). The name is also shared with a district in Shibuya, Tokyo.
    • The name Dogenzaka also contains word "dog" in English, a wordplay that ties into her characterization and motif design.
  • In addition to following Runa's dog and canine motifs, the Japanese pronounciation for Runa's codename Howler (ハウラー) (ha-u-raa) sounds almost identical to the Japanese pronounciation of her Persona Aura (アウラ) (a-u-ra).

Trivia[]

  • Many subtle hints, including her character trailer and several in-game lines, are suggesting that the person behind Shichi-kun's mascot suit is Runa herself. [1]
