Persona: Tsumi to Batsu[]

Rinne is a Persona-user that mysteriously appeared two years prior to the Persona Hunt, saving Keito from being wiped out alongside his police squad after a demon attacked them. From then on, the two would work to survive together, eventually reaching the point where the Persona Hunt commenced. As various Persona-users were being attacked in Sumaru City and their Personas stolen (leaving them to become comatose), they joined forces with another survivor. This was Narui, and Rinne befriending a Jack Frost named J.F., would bring another into their fold. The four would go on to hide out in an abandoned factory, which lead to them calling themselves the Factory Family. Unbeknownst to her teammates, Rinne is actually the holder for the Red Book gifted to her by Philemon and knows more about their situation than they would realize.

Like most kids, Rinne has a playful, mischievous attitude towards her friends and loves pulling pranks on them. Still, she knows when to be serious and is a reliable person in and out of battle. As the holder of the Red Book, she takes her duties as its guardian very seriously and is angered when the Books are misused to harm humanity. Throughout the journey, she is very secretive of her role as the Red Book's guardian and reluctant to reveal that side of herself to her friends, wanting to bear the burden herself. As the journey progresses, she grows more somber since their journey's end would mean her separation from her friends, but she is resolved to see things through to the end. She holds a daughter/sisterly relationship with Keito and has immense trust in him given how long they've been together.

Rinne appears alongside the Factory Family when Kazumi Kiba arrived at their hideout in search of his friend, Rihito Shimizu. The Family would go on to save Kazumi from being killed by Rihito and would fend off the demons that their enemy would leave behind. From there, following Narui getting her Persona reaped, Rinne would stay behind in the Velvet Room to use the Red Book's power to recover Narui's Persona whilst Kazumi and Keito leave to retrieve weapons from Alaya Shrine. The two that left would have no idea of her status as the Red Book's guardian and she forbids J.F. from mentioning such a fact to her friends.

Rinne would join the Family in their quest to retrieve the Four Keys that would allow them to defeat Nymphea and their Grim Reaper holders. Following Narui and Keito acquiring their Keys, Yakumo would do a test run of the Schwarz System during an interview with Sumaru Television. Something which had the Black Book briefly activated, much to Rinne's dismay. Heading over to Sumaru Television, she confronts Yakumo and his bodyguard, Rea, and fights them. While the Red Book's power allows her not to be completely overwhelmed, Yakumo being able to use multiple Personas at once and Rea's assistance gradually has her pushed back. She is saved by the intervention of Kazumi, who acquired the Earth Key, and he manages to get their enemies to retreat by informing both that he called the police. Afterwords, Kazumi inquires on the possibility of Rinne being his deceased friend, Mana, but she doesn't answer. Both would return to the others.

With three of the Keys acquired, and Kazumi laying down the plan of using said keys to seal the Black Book's power, he says it's time for Rinne to acquire hers. But Rinne gives a half-hearted response to it and walks off. Keito goes to confront her outside, admitted he knew for a while she wasn't a regular kid since she hadn't grown in the two years he knew her. He gets the gist that, once their adventure was over, Rinne would have to leave them, but he does reassure her. Trusting Rinne as his guardian angel.

Unfortunately, Rinne would get kidnapped by Yakumo who intended to use both Books to rewrite history as he saw fit. Thus, this would lead the remaining members of the Family traveling to Nymphea to get Rinne back. A confined Rinne would witness Rihito bring Kazumi, who was needed by Yakumo to unseal his portion of the Black Book, to the Schwarz System. It was during this time that J.F. destroyed the terminal holding Rinne and tried to free her, only to be killed by Yakumo, much to Rinne's dismay. Though J.F. destroying the terminal does allow her to teleport away with Rihito, thus allowing the remaining Family members to fight against Yakumo.

Rinne teleports Rihito to a separate dimension, where she reveals the truth. She both is and isn't Mana. She is an existence born from the Red Book, essentially a Persona made from the memories and thoughts of people had towards the late Mana and being born in her image. In addition, she is also the last key, the Aqua Key. The key Rihito was meant to hold. Rihito tearfully pleads that, since Mana was here, they could use the Books to make things right. But Rinne, with the song of Humpty Dumpty as a metaphor, claims that she can't be made whole again and he should move forward. Ultimately, Rihito accepts his role as she becomes the last Key and her Persona, Varuna, goes on to become Rihito's ultimate Persona. Rihito, joining forces with the remaining Family, would go on to defeat Yakumo and destroy Schwarz. Rinne's voice could be heard as they finished off their fight, claiming she'll live on in their hearts.

After the battle, she appears before the team to say that the darkness has been banished back into the depths of the Sea of Souls. As a result, the Books can be entrusted to their new holders: Rihito and Kazumi. She says this is Philemon's final promise and departs, leaving humanity's fate once again in the hearts of the people.

In the epilogue, Keito's dealings with the Nanjo Group has him locate the whereabouts of a girl that he says is his daughter (though he had to leave both her and her mother behind for his police career). His goal now is to reunited with both, with him wanting to tell his daughter just how much he loves her as his 'goddess' (a nickname he usually gives to Rinne). The photograph of his daughter heavily resembles Rinne herself, albeit older.
