Profile[]
Rago is one of the Reapers working for Nymphéa. Arrogant and sophisticated, he considers himself above his enemies. However, despite his classy facade, he holds a hotheaded, childish and even petty side when pushed enough. Kazumi Kiba and Keito meet him at the Alaya Shrine during the first volume, with him using his Persona, Diable de Laplace's ability to allow himself to learn his enemies past and disrupt them mentally. Combined with his Grim Reaper boosting his abilities, he puts both on the ropes, but due to Rinne using the Red Book, his power is interrupted long enough to be forced to retreat by Yama's Dark Verdict spell. During a meeting with Yakumo Kusaka and the other Reapers, who warns Ujiya of their power triumphing over even his own, though the latter brushes it off and chides him for his failure. For revenge, he tapes a note on Ujiya's back.
Later on, when Yakumo has most of his forces prepare the Schwartz System for usage during an interview with Sumaru Television, Rago uses this opportunity to get Rihito Shimizu to go after Kazumi, under the pretense of him settling the score. In truth, using this opportunity, Rago had slipped into the building's off-limit's section to learn more about Yakumo and what his plans were. During this, he realized that Yakumo was planning on using the hunted Persona's to activate the Black Book in two minutes. Before he could do anything about that information, he is found out by BB the guardian of the system. Despite Rago's best efforts, he is defeated and has his Persona reaped by BB, despite his efforts to plead with BB to betray Yakumo and work for him.
In the last volume, it is revealed that he is actually an avatar of Nyarlathotep. Philemon criticizes Rago for interfering, but Rago calls him out that he did the same for his own ideal of humanity and that things were just too interesting to not get involved. Philemon tells him to depart, with the Crawling Chaos vowing their fight is not over yet and there were still countless chances for him to seize control of fate.
