Queen Mab is a recurring demon in the series, based on the fairy queen from Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet."
"The fairy queen in Celtic myth. Often identified with Titania, Oberon's wife. She would offer mead mixed with her blood to her many consorts."
Queen Mab is immortalized in "Romeo And Juliet" in Mercutio's legendary monologue (Act I, Scene 4), which is often called the "Queen Mab Speech", which includes,
"And in this state she gallops night by night/
Through lovers' brains, and then they dream of love/
O'er courtiers' knees, that dream on court'sies straight/
O'er lawyers' fingers, who straight dream on fees/
O'er ladies' lips, who straight on kisses dream/
Which oft the angry Mab with blisters plagues..."
