History[]
Kopis ("to cut, to strike") was a term used in ancient Greece to describe a heavy knife with a forward-curving blade. A one-handed weapon, early examples had its blade length up to 25.6 inches. Later Macedonian examples tended to be shorter with a blade length of about 18.9 inches. The kopis is often compared to the shorter Nepalese kukri.
