Etymology[]
A Pralaya ( प्रलय), literally "destruction" in Hindi, is a aeonic term meaning "dissolution" in Hindi cosmology.
A Pralaya specifies different periods of time during which a non-activity situation persists, as per different formats or contexts. The word Mahapralaya stands for "Great Dissolution." During each pralaya, the lower ten realms (loka are destroyed, while the higher four realms, those being Satya-loka, Tapa-loka, Jana-loka and Mahar-loka, are preserved. During each Mahapralaya, all 14 realms are destroyed.
This event also explains why Pralaya has a instant kill effect for almost all instances of this skill's appearances, as well as why all the common magic skills that target all enemies have the "Maha" prefix in Japanese.
