Pickpocket (オタカラ強奪, Otakara Goudatsu)? is a Confidant ability which allows the protagonist to have a chance of receiving an item while striking an enemy Shadow with a melee attack, and the items will be received as soon as the successful theft is performed. The items will be displayed on the battle results screen, like with regular drops. Pickpocket can only activate once per battle.
The items the protagonist can receive are parallel to what items the Shadow would give in Negotiation; the pool of items that can be received consist of 2 common items and 1 rare item, varying between each Shadow. In Persona 5 Royal, the negotiation pool might be smaller if it contains any sooty armor, but at minimum Shadows can give at least 1 item.
The protagonist can unlock this ability by ranking up Morgana's Confidant to Rank 5, after clearing Kaneshiro's Palace. Morgana will always give the protagonist Morgana's Scarf at the end of the game, which, in New Game Plus, will unlock Pickpocket as soon as he has initiated Morgana's Confidant on April 15th.
Metaphor: ReFantazio[]
Pickpocket (巾着切り, Kinchakukiri)? is a unique passive skill which allows the protagonist to have increased odds of obtaining items while stunning or defeating enemy monsters in overworld combat, which is a passive ability that the protagonist has while having an Archetype from the Thief Lineage equipped, which can only be done after forging a bond with the teammate that natively has the Thief Archetype, Heismay Noctule.
The rate in which Pickpocket procs scales with the protagonist's Luck stat, and it can be boosted with Skill Inheritance, specifically if an Archetype of the Thief lineage has inherited the Lucky Find and/or the Luckier Find passives from the Merchant and/or Tycoon Archetypes.
