Overview

Persona 5

Ryuji first becomes playable during the last battle of 4/12, and joins on Level 4. He specializes in Electric skills, attack support and endurance.

In exchange for Magic, Ryuji has the 2nd highest strength stat from the Phantom Thieves, only behind Yusuke Kitagawa. This can help deal strong amount of damage against targets. Although his attack pool emphasizes on single-target enemies, which deal stronger damage in place of his multi-target attacks, Ryuji can boost his allies' attack power with Tarukaja and Matarukaja, making it possible for them to cover up other enemies.

Although Ryuji can serve hard blows, his attack power can be weakened by his low agility, which makes him more prone to missing his targets. However, he has the highest Endurance and HP stat out of the entire group. These help significantly cover for his late turn order, as he can take more hits than others, minimizing the risk of fainting before he can act. This can help him stall for time as well, whether it's using items or skills.

Ryuji can learn Adverse Resolve, a special passive skill which increases his Critical rate when the group is ambushed.

Ryuji can learn Charge late in the game, which lets his next physical attack inflict 2.5x damage.

Ryuji is naturally resistant to Electric skills, and is vulnerable to Wind skills. As he uses Electric skills, it is possible for his attacks to inflict Shock, making the targets unable to move. Technical damage can later be performed with a Physical or a Nuclear skill.

If the protagonist maxes out Ryuji's Confidant, his Persona Captain Kidd will evolve into Seiten Taisei. This will grant him resistance to Fire and completely block Electric skills. He's also able to learn Evade Wind, a skill which makes it more difficult for him to become hit by Wind skills.

Persona 5 Royal

In Persona 5 Royal, instead of Bad Beat at level 24, which inflicts Damage with low chance of Despair, Ryuji learns Memory Blow in its place, a weaker attack which has a low chance of inflicting Forget instead. If the protagonist reads "Knowing the Heart," once Ryuji's attack manages to inflict the enemy with Forget, he will have the option to use his Electric skills in succession to perform Technical damage on the afflicted enemy.

Ryuji has a Showtime with Makoto Niijima and Yusuke Kitagawa. His Showtime with Makoto can be unlocked while visiting the Hideout from June 22, and Yusuke's from July 17.

Ryuji's Persona Trait is Raging Temper, which has a chance to boost the power of allies' physical attacks by 40%.

If Ryuji's Confidant has been maxed out before infiltrating the Depths of Mementos, on January 14, Ryuji's Persona Seiten Taisei will merge into William. He makes it possible for Ryuji to learn Fighting Spirit, helping the next Physical attack for every party member inflict 2.5x damage. Additionally, his Persona Trait will transform into Eccentric Temper, sharpening allies' physical attacks to 80%.

Persona 5 Strikers

Ryuji's stat distribution in Persona 5 Strikers has his Persona 5 stats used as reference, having only minor stat boosts in comparison. Hence, he plays very similarly in Strikers.

Ryuji essentially plays the same way as in Persona 5, although his physical attacks have a slightly bigger focus on Critical hits, especially as he can learn Critical Boost, which, as the name implies, boosts his Critical rate.
