This article is about a Megami Tensei II character. For a game mechanic in Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse, see Partners.

The partner, also known as Tokyo Tower's Witch, is the heroine of Megami Tensei II and the main companion of the protagonist.

Appearances[]

Profile[]

Megami Tensei II[]

The heroine first "appears" as a player character in the protagonist's game of Devil Busters. Whatever name the protagonist picks for his digital partner will turn out to be the real partner's name as well.

In the real world, she is a witch who served under Pazuzu and was paired with the demon Orthrus. After the protagonist and his friend defeat Nebiros, Pazuzu instructs her to give them the Flame Talisman via the friend's girlfriend, Hiroko. Shortly after this, she deduces that Pazuzu was simply using her and the heroes to wrest control over Tokyo from Bael, and breaks away from Orthrus, taking up residence in the Tokyo Tower. There, she becomes known as a healer and protector of the people living in the ruins of Tokyo, who claimed that she was blessed by Izanami.

Later, Pazuzu sends the heroes with Orthrus to defeat her for her treachery, but during the resulting confrontation, she manages to get the protagonist to agree with her viewpoint. Angered that the protagonist would side with her over him, the friend leaves with Orthrus, vowing if they cross paths again, they'd be enemies. She regrets that the friend failed to see the truth, but expresses her hopes that he would eventually come around. After this, she becomes the protagonist's companion and travels alongside him throughout his journey to save the world from the demons. Much later on in the story they reach Astaroth's Castle in the Forest of Confusion, the partner is captured by Astaroth, but is later saved by the protagonist.

Trivia[]

  • In the manual for the game's original release, she is given the name "Rosanna". This is a reference to music duo Hide and Rosanna.
  • In the original Megami Tensei II, refusing to agree with her after she outs Pazuzu as an enemy will make her attack the protagonist's party; given her high level and stats she will almost certainly defeat the party and cause a game over. If she is somehow defeated, she will reappear in the same room and deliver some dialogue. [1]
    • In Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei, she will not attack the protagonist’s party and will simply vanish, reappearing only when the protagonist leaves Tokyo Tower and re-enters.
  • In the Futaba Bunko gamebook "Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II Messiah Project 2036," the Partner is named "Asuka."
