Parasites are organisms that live at the expense of another creature. Many parasites feed on blood, nutrients or even other parasites. They're characterized as "predators that eat prey in units of less than one." Parasitism is a symbiotic relationship between species. Parasites increase their own fitness by exploiting their hosts for resources necessary for their survival.
