Panagia Tao

Tao’s Panagia form

Panagia (至聖女, Shiseijo)? is a race in the series.

Appearances[]

List of Demons[]

Shin Megami Tensei V[]

Panagia is a special race exclusive to Tao who had awoken to her power as a Saint and was reborn as a goddess. Unlike other demons, Panagia does not have an exclusive Magatsuhi skill.

Demon Level
Tao 60

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance[]

The Panagia race now have a Magatsuhi Skill tied to them, though the skill in question, Eternal Prayer, is also tied to the Megami race. Accessing this Magatsuhi Skill requires progressing the story into the Taito arc, where Tao gifts the Panagia Talisman after joining the Nahobino's stock. Aside from this, the Panagias are unique in that the two members are of different alignment within the same race- while the overall race is Light, Tao is aligned with Law and Yoko with Chaos, which causes them to have different alignment Magatsuhi skills (Yoko can use Tides of Chaos while Tao has access to Waves of Order).

Aside from Tao, Yoko also becomes a Panagia race demon upon awakening as a goddess of creation, which is part of the last force of action Lilith of the Qadištu pushed forward before her death.

Both Tao and Yoko can be summoned from the compendium like normal demons after clearing the game, though Yoko's unlock is naturally tied to the Chaos ending of the Canon of Vengeance as she only survives the events of the game on that particular route or otherwise doesn't appear in the game, while Tao's unlock is any of the other endings.

Etymology[]

Panagia (Greek: Παναγία, fem. of panágios, pan- + hágios, the All-Holy or the Most Holy) is one of the titles of Mary in medieval and modern Greek, predominantly used in Eastern Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity. Greek churches are called Panagia. While western churches will use St. Mary, eastern churches consider Mary above saints and the most holy of all beings created.
