In Japanese belief, Nigi Mitama is the calm and functional state of a person's soul, or kami, which is considered to be the opposite of Ara Mitama. The Ara Mitama must first be pacified with rites and worship before the Nigi Mitama will appear.
"One of the four aspects of the human soul, as described in Shinto teachings. It is associated with gentleness."
—Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne profile
Nigi Mitama is the second demon of the Mitama race and can be obtained either by fusing the Element race demons Erthys and Aeros or by purchasing it at Rag's Jewelry in Ginza for one Jade stone and one Amethyst. A higher level Nigi Mitama can be purchased with multiple stones. Unlike other demons, fusing Nigi Mitama with another demon will power up that demon, with some restrictions. The demon being powered up must have available skill slots to receive skills from Nigi Mitama and cannot have its stats boosted more than double its base stats, depending on the demon's level. Nigi Mitama will increase the Magic and Luck stats of a demon during fusion.
Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE[]
Nigi Mitama can only be obtained through fusion or from jewel trade-ins at Rag's Jewelry. By using a Nigi Mitama in the initial mitama fusion, the demon's post-mitama growth focuses on Magic, Intelligence and Luck stats.
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey[]
"One of the four great aspects of Shinto thought, it works gently to help maintain a calm mind. It is said to aid in one's relations, calmness, and sociability, and can lead one in a positive direction."
—Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey compendium
Nigi Mitama is the second-lowest Mitama in the game, obtained by fusing two Prime race demons. Using Nigi Mitama in a fusion will boost a demon's Magic and Luck stats, along with potentially transferring over useful skills.
Shin Megami Tensei IV[]
Nigi Mitama appears primarily in the DLC Challenge QuestDeath Has Its Applications, and appears as a rare encounter with every Mitama in the DLC quests Experience of the Afterlife and Underworld Money-Maker. They drop 10-Point Card and 20-Point Card, which give Flynn, respectively, 10 and 20 Burroughs App points.
Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse[]
Nigi Mitama appears primarily in the DLC Challenge Quest "A Godslayer Needs Apps," and appear as a rare encounter in the DLC quests "A Godslayer Needs Levels," "A Godslayer Needs Macca" and "A Godslayer Needs Items." They drop and trade 5-Point Cards, 10-Point Cards and 20-Point Cards, and rarely Bead Chains and Amrita Sodas.
Nigi Mitama likes to attempt to negate all incoming damage via its Tetrakarn and Makarakarn skills. Along with Almighty damage virtually being nulled by them, this can potentially leave them unscathed for an entire turn and they may continue this until they flee. Ailments that will keep them from acting can be used to prevent this. Nigi Mitama is vulnerable to Light and Darkness skills.
Shin Megami Tensei V[]
"One of the four great aspects of Shinto thought, it works gently to help maintain a calm mind. It is said to aid in one's relations, calmness, and sociability, and can also lead one in a positive direction."
—Shin Megami Tensei V lore
Nigi Mitama is an unrecruitable demon that can be found all over Da'at. Like the other Mitama, Nigi Mitama have one randomized weakness, resists Almighty, and negates the rest, including Ailments. To find the weakness without wasting Press Turns, a Spyglass is normally needed; otherwise, a demon created specifically to Pierce resistances is in order. Their damage multiplier against weaknesses is roughly x9, greatly amplified compared to normal demons.
When defeated, Nigi Mitama normally drops Small Glory Crystals, consumable items that give out 10 Glory to purchase Miracles when used. Starting with Chiyoda, Nigi Mitama may drop Large Glory Crystals, which provides 100 Glory. This was changed in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, where Large Glory Crystals are a much rarer drop from late game Nigi Mitama than it had in the original game.
Normally having a sporadic spawn rate, the Mitama Dance of Miracles DLC offers an option to dramatically increase the spawn rate for Nigi Mitama, installing a togglable option in the Options menu once purchased and downloaded.
Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers[]
Fusing any demon with a Nigi Mitama will amplify its Intelligence and Agility stats, increasing its speed and magic resistance. This can be freely done at the Goumaden, or with COMP Fusion provided that the Steiner app is installed.
Soul Hackers 2[]
"One of the four great aspects of Shinto that shapes all souls, the Nigi Mitama is said to have a calm demeanor. It is also said that an Ara Mitama becomes a Nigi Mitama once it's calmed down. There are several theories regarding the Nigi Mitama's role, as it has been said to lead thinga in a positive direction or even grant the powers of "relations, calmness, and sociability.""
—Soul Hackers 2 demon info
Nigi Mitama is a demon of the Mitama race and can be fused at the Cirque du Goumaden after being unlocked for fusion by completing the "Retrieve Orb Crystaloid Beta" Aion Directive. The quest will complete after collecting 7 Orb Crystaloid Beta and Ringo can then fuse Nigi Mitama after reaching Level 38. Nigi Mitama can be summoned by fusing two members of the Element race together, through a combination of Melon Frost x B Hawaii Frost or Melon Frost x Milk-kin Frost.
When Nigi Mitama is used in fusion, the resulting demon will be the same demon as the non-Mitama fusion component. This demon will receive bonuses to INT and AGI from being fused with Nigi Mitama, and Nigi Mitama can be used to pass skills on to the demon being powered up.

Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner 2[]
Nigi Mitama can be found in the Field Hunt area at the Karma Society Tower. Its stats and skillset remains largely unchanged from the first game aside from a reduced HP stat and an added resistance to Almighty attacks.
Devil Survivor 2[]
Like all the other Mitamas, fusion for Nigi Mitama can only be unlocked in a New Game Plus.
