Nanman Gusoku is a weapon in the series.
History[]
Nanban (南蛮, lit. Southern barbarian) was a word used to designate people from Southern China, the Ryukyu islands, the Indian Ocean, and Southeast Asia prior to the arrival of the first Europeans. The Nanban trade was a form of European contact in the 16th century, establishing long-distance overseas trade routes with Japan. During this time, samurai needed lighter and more protective armor; this gave rise to a new style of armor called tosei-gusoku (gusoku), which means "modern armor."
