Motoha Arai is a major playable character from Persona 5: The Phantom X.
Appearances[]
- Persona 5: The Phantom X: Playable Character
Design[]
Motoha has short blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She wears a black sweater with a light blue and rose graffiti design and yellow trim over her school uniform, knee-high black socks and white sneakers with dark grey shoelaces.
As Closer, her outfit consists of a black and yellow romper with thunderbolt shaped hood, a high-necked black undershirt, yellow leggings with black stripes, red mask, sneakers with lightning bolt decals, black gloves with yellow palms and a pouch on her arm. She wields a modern version of a single-headed meteor hammer, an ancient Chinese weapon.
Personality[]
Motoha has a straightforward and cheerful personality. She is considerate of others and is widely popular with both male and female students at her school. She acts intuitively rather than logically, hence her average performance in school.[1] She sometimes displays a confident side when dealing with certain problems.
Profile[]
Persona 5: The Phantom X[]
Motoha is a student at Kokatsu Academy and a classmate of the protagonist. She played baseball when she was little and is best friends with Tomoko Noge. She introduces the protagonist to the Metaverse Navigator, but she later suspects that he is involved with it somehow after seeing him disappear on the train. When Tomoko is injured after being pushed onto the train tracks one morning, Motoha suspects it to be Takeyuki Kiuchi, a former professional baseball player who blames her for ending his baseball career after hitting a home run against him 10 years ago. Because she has no evidence in securing his arrest, she decides to ask the protagonist and Ruferu for help to change Kiuchi's heart and made him confess his crimes.
Trivia[]
- Motoha's codename refers to a closing pitcher in baseball, who is generally a team's best reliever and designated to pitch the last few outs of games when their team is leading by a margin of three runs or less.
- Both Closer's design and weapon are reminiscent of elements used in the movie Kill Bill: Volume 1, a 2003 American martial arts film. Her outfit resembles the protagonist's yellow tracksuit, in itself a reference to Bruce Lee's iconic yellow-and-black jumpsuit in 1972 martial arts film Game of Death, and her weapon is the same used by schoolgirl assassin Gogo Yubari.
