Trivia[]
- Mio's character design as Matoi is greatly inspired by hikeshi, the Japanese firefighting brigades in Edo and Meiji period, which fits her occupation in reality and her background story.
- The upper part of her Phantom Thief outfit takes reference from Hikeshi banten, a specialized coat worn by hikeshi firefighters as their uniforms.
- Her codename Matoi refers to the flag used by hikeshi firefighters standing at the top of buildings to notify people of an ongoing fire.
- Her melee weapon sasumata was a commonly used tool by hikeshi firefighters to assist with their duties in firefighting operations.
- Mio alongside Yuuki Mishima are the only characters to have their shadow selves confronted within their confidants.
- Unlike Shadow Mishima who doesn’t fight the Phantom Thieves and only needs to be spoken to, the party has to battle Shadow Natsukawa to change her heart.
- Mio's birthday (November 9th) references Japan emergency phone number for contacting fire brigades (119).
