"I'm rather taken with the human knickknacks and relics of yore, so I got some pawns to go out and fetch them for me. Miman, they're called. Trouble is, they're fickle, and, even worse, forgetful. Oftentimes, they give up the search and do whatever they please... (sigh) They're useless! That said, if you happen to run across any, mind sending 'em back old Gustave's direction? I'll see to it you're rewarded. Keehee!"
—Gustave, Shin Megami Tensei V

Miman are minor characters in Shin Megami Tensei V.

Appearances[]

Profile[]

The Miman are Gustave's absent-minded pawns, and are scattered all over Da'at, acting as a form of collectible. They spread far and wide, tucked away in some unexpected nooks and crannies in the hopes of finding Relics for their master, Gustave, though with barely passable results, if Gustave's assessment is of any indication. The Miman also absorb the information of their surroundings, often quoting trivia of the region or landmarks of the region of Tokyo they are found, as well as hints. Sometimes, however, the information they absorb influences their behavior, making them believe they are experiencing it firsthand.

If the Nahobino finds any, he is given an amount of Glory, which goes up if they're found in later regions. In addition, Gustave will reward the protagonist with items for every five Miman that he finds; this typically includes items that enable demon race-specific Magatsuhi Skills, rare essences or other important items.

Miman will appear on the map if approached closely enough; otherwise, a Cironnup in each region of Da'at will reveal the locations of all Miman in that region for a fee.

Trivia[]

  • Certain Miman have knowledge of the existence of the Nahobino. One Miman from the Taito region explains that they are the products of Nahobino who failed to fully form after trying to do so too early or were transformed during the time of the Condemnation, indicating YHVH's Condemnation had physical and spiritual effects on all other beings.
  • The very first Miman cannot be in any way skipped, as it is part of the tutorial of what to do when finding Miman, and why you must find them.
  • A Miman in Shinjuku, an area exclusive to the Canon of Vengeance in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, reveals that both Canons of the games takes place after Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, saying Tokyo became Da'at 20 years ago, starting from a hospital nearby. However, it's also said by Tao and other sources the Conception happened in Chiyoda, rather than Shinjuku, putting the Miman and the validity of their dialogue into question.
