Etymology[]
Yamaoroshi (山颪*)? is a yokai from the compendium Gazu Hyakki Tsurezure Bukuro which bears the appearance of a porcupine. Its spiked head is a reference to the traditional Japanese vegetable grater "oroshigane" (下ろし金*)?. "Oroshi" (颪*)? means the katabatic wind.
