If our benchmark for naming the Persona 4 protagonist was him being named in an official Atlus publication as Yu Narukami in P4 Arena and P4A Ultimax, how should we consider names given from a crossover game from an outside publisher? Official or as the same artistic license the animes and mangas take?
I think it depends on what the game is and if they invented the name or lifted it from somewhere else. Atlus has been pretty consistent with using all the same names nowadays, usually with the "canon name" matching up with whatever is used in the nearest anime (such as the P5 guy being Ren...wait did we ever move his page?)
It's a Match 3 game from a third party developer. Puzzles and Dragons. They're apparently going to be featuring SMT elements in the game soon, and have named the various protagonists with names used in prior anime/manga/stage adaptions.
Oh yeah, they've had a Persona collab before and I think they use all the names the anime have used; considering these same names have been used in canon material (such as Arena and the dancing games) I think we can assume that these are their official names and should treat them as such. I somehow doubt Atlus will let a licensee just "pick" a name for these high profile characters.
I would like to eventually recreate this page, but I want to check in with you to see if I can get a test/sandbox page set up so that I can iron out any potential problems and flesh it out before the page is actually recreated. Do you mind if I do things this way (a test/sandbox page for the EGG Installation that gradually gets more content before the actual page is brought back)? This is what I have so far:
The EGG Installation is a location in Karma City, specifically being set in the Laboratory Dome.
since the page is so limited though I have a question if you guys only have it there as a bio and if you guys would be willing to import the wiki for future editing. otherwise I can import it to Gamepedia please let me know what the plan for this wiki is yours sincerely Alice
Ps you can reach me on discord as well if needed Alice#6071
On the Persona 1, Devil Survivor and Tokyo Mirage Session pages the tranlsations for their Japanese name is listed as "Goddess Revelations" and "Illusury Revelations" respectivly and thats just not the correct translation. Ibunroku =/= Revelations that was just what they tried to market the series as in the US back in the day. The correct translations would be something like "Goddess Another Story" or "Story Of Another Goddess". I tried to fix this issue but it got undid quickly and continues to provide false information
Why do the pages on Persona 3 and 5 protagonists still say 'Protagonist' even though we are aware of their canon names?
I'd understand if the names were anime-only names. But their names appear in their respective dancing game trailers (Even if it's written in Japanese) and in the second trailers for both dancing games, their names were shown in English.
Their names even appear in English before the song begins
The same reason we don't move the names for any adaptation: it isn't definitively canon and thus not definitively what these characters will be called. You didn't need huge screenshots to show me something I already knew, btw.
Please, wait until the game comes out. If it has a proper story mode or w/e and shows itself to be canon, then we will move the pages and what not. We've already discussed this.
