The Megami (女神, megami) are literally Goddesses. They are usually the female counterpart of a Head God in Pantheons (e.g: Parvati being Shiva's wife). In gameplay, demons of the Megami Race are usually poor in physical combat but they excel in healing and offensive magic. They were first considered like an Light-Law race but in Shin Megami Tensei II they were changed to Light-Neutral
Even though Megami translates to "Goddess" in English, Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE is the only game where Megami has been translated. This could be has a reference to the game titles.
