Masamune is a weapon in the series.
History [ ] Masamune , also known as Priest Gorou Masamune, was a medieval Japanese blacksmith who is widely recognized as Japan's greatest swordsmith. No exact dates are known for Masamune's life. It is generally agreed that he made most of his swords between 1288 and 1328. All types of blades produced by Masamune are referred to as such.
The Fudo Masamune is one of the few surviving blades from the early 1600s made primarily for stabbing, though it also has a sharp edge for slashing. Approximately 10 inches long, it has a carving of roots on the front, outer edge and chopstick-like grooves on the back. The blade features an engraving of Fudou Myou-ou , the buddhist deity which gives this blade its name.
