Mannequin, known online as MANEKIN, is a character from Soul Hackers 2.
Profile[]
Mannequin is a part-timer at Zafiro but doesn't bother much with customer service or running the store. His hobby has been social networking for over 5 years and has 100,000 followers.[1]
In spite of Mannequin's apathetic behavior to his fans and his clinginess to his "cute" image, he has a legitimate passion for fashion. According to him, he was renowned as a genius for his designs, but an unrelated stranger would falsely accuse him of plagiarism online, which dropped his reputation and had even his own fans turn on him.
Over the course of the story, Mannequin is narcissistic and would take other people for granted, including his own fans. He's also described to be self-conscious, a trait which he conceals with a bleak interpretation of beauty, valuing cuteness and condemning ugliness while describing himself as "cute." This makes him clingy to this image.
Mannequin's set of requests revolve around the growing pressure of maintaining his internet persona as well as the opinion of his fans. In his pursuit of Eliza's accessories, although Ringo acts as a middleman between obtaining the accessories and the people she negotiates with never meet him in person, their opinions of Mannequin would be based on his online identity: one would be a woman that was a fan of Mannequin and would try to contact him, whereas another disliked Mannequin over the old plagiarism allegations and would even raise the price of his accessory out of sheer spite.
