Makakaja (マカカジャ*)? is a Support skill.
Effect[]
Makakaja raises the magical attack power of all allies.
In Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne as well as Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner, the buff is permanent and can stack up to 4 ranks. The attack buff and the attack debuff (Makanda or Tarunda) are separate variables, so although they stack with one-another and can neutralize each-other's effects, they still can only be used 4 times each unless one of the stats is reset with Dekunda or Dekaja.
In Shin Megami Tensei NINE, Makakaja's effects only last for one turn.
In Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse, Makakaja increases the allying party's Magical attack power by 1 rank, and stacks up to 3 ranks. Each rank increases the user's attack power by 20%, with the maximum reaching 60%. It stacks multiplicatively with other buffs, Rakukaja included. (1.6*1.6=2.56)[1] The buff and debuff statuses are singular, rather than individual, so if the target's magic attack is decreased by 1 or more stages, Makakaja will directly increase it without the need for Dekunda.
In Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army, Makakaja raises the magic attack power of all allies for the duration of the battle.
In the Persona 2 duology, Makakaja only affects one ally.

Trivia[]
Makakaja's effect of raising the magical attack power will often be folded into Tarukaja for various Shin Megami Tensei games (e.g.: Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey and Redux), making Makakaja's presence redundant. Luster Candy being named for Ra[kukaja]-Su[kukaja]-Ta[rukaja] is an example where Makakaja's effect still happens, but is represented in the "Ta" part.
