Kowakashu is a Shadow in the Persona series.
Appearances[]
Profile[]
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth[]
Kowakashu appears as an F.O.E in Nights 1 through 4 of the Inaba Pride Exhibit. They patrol fixed paths, and if the Holy Flame is lit, they begin actively chasing the party, allowing them to pass through otherwise impassable patrol routes. When defeated, it may drop Kanroshu. Kanroshu is used to create the Wide Bomber for Aigis and Panic Boots for Chie.
Strategy[]
Though it is the weakest of the F.O.Es within the dungeon, Kowakashu still has a high damage output and durability, along with the ability to fully heal itself with Diarahan.
To counter this, the party can launch a preemptive strike, set up on the first turn, then unleash a volley of their strongest attacks, possibly including a Dragon Cry-boosted Flame Link. Should the party manage to inflict Panic or Magic Bind the boss before it can heal itself, the crippled F.O.E should go down without causing further trouble. The boss only uses Diarahan when the party uses healing skills. However, this restriction does not apply to Leader Skills, so skills such as Healing Breeze allow the party to heal without triggering Diarahan.
Alternatively, if engaged while holding the Holy Flame, the F.O.E. will be far more likely to use Rampage and will, likely use nothing else. This can be exploited by equipping Sub-Personas with Swordbreaker and/or Immunity Buffer to hamper the enemy's damage output and possibly use Magic Bind to be certain that it will not heal itself. However, Rampage still deals high damage.

Trivia[]
- Kowakashu's design is based on a bottle gourd, an ancient symbol for health due to Chinese doctors in former times carrying medicine inside it. Bottle gourds are also used in drunken boxing, a style of Chinese martial arts that imitate the movements of a drunk person.
