Kishe is an arrogant and brash boy who lives in the town of Lemuria with his mother. By the time El arrives Kishe has fallen ill, though recovers with medicine obtained from the nearby town of Arrow, and joins the party out of gratitude.
In the Game Gear version of the game, along with other plot changes, the circumstances of Kishe's recruitment are changed to provide him with more characterization. Along with El and Uranus, Kishe is a 16-year-old training to become a Gaia Master. Upon learning of Arrow's invasion by monsters, he storms off by himself and is nearly killed, though is saved by El. He refuses to allow El to escort him home, insisting that he can do so himself, though his mother sends El to find him once he does not arrive. Kishe must then be recruited from Arrow's infirmary, having been found by the town's doctor. Though humbled by the experience, he does not give up his overconfident demeanor entirely. After the destruction of their world, Kishe and Uranus survive and find themselves on the planet of Terra, as they realize their planet is gone.
As a party member, Kishe is moderately adept with both magic and equipment, being able to equip more weapons than Uranus and providing more magical utility than El. He trades specialization in exchange for his versatility: while he learns instant death spells (and eventually, the strongest offensive spell in the game) he cannot learn offensive elemental spells by leveling up, and doesn't learn his HP-restoring spell until fairly late in the game. He begins with high Strength, Intellect and Endurance, but poor Speed and Luck.
