"I'm the world-famous Junko Kurosu, a genius thespian surpassing even Marilyn Monroe!"
—Junko Kurosu, Persona 2: Innocent Sin

Junko Kurosu is a character from the Persona 2 duology. She is the wife of Akinari Kashihara, the mother of Jun Kurosu, and a former student of Seven Sisters High School.

Profile[]

Persona 2[]

Innocent Sin[]

"An actress who caused a stir around ten years ago. She retired due to a scandal, but has made a comeback, looking remarkably unchanged."
—Introductory Description
"The last member of the Masked Four, in possession of the wind skull. It seems she was mainly gathering Ideal Energy from adults."
—Queen Aquarius introduction

Junko was once a popular student in the Seven Sisters High School, who later became an actress, and married Akinari Kashihara, the history teacher of Seven Sisters High School. Together, they bore a child known as Jun Kurosu, but when he was born, she mostly ignored him and was a distant mother. She and her husband fought and argued constantly as she began to miss her life as a celebrity. When his home life got worse and worse, Jun began to hate both his mother and father.

Junko became tired of her husband and got suspicious of his relationship with Maya Okamura, hiring Daisuke Todoroki to follow them, to no avail. She eventually began spreading rumors about him, partly aiding in his death at Seven Sisters High's clock tower. At some point, she used the Joker rumor to summon Joker and made a wish to him for eternal youth (she didn't know the entity she summoned was actually her son at that time). As a price for the deal, Joker made her into Queen Aquarius of the Masked Circle.

Before the party confronts Joker, she learned that her own son, Jun Kurosu is actually Joker himself. Moments after this revelation and the realization of how horribly she had mistreated him, she shoved him out of the way of a Longinus spear aimed for him, taking the blow herself and dying as a result. Therefore, unlike the other Masked Circle executives, she is never fought directly as she dies immdeately after being introduced.

When the party confronts Nyarlathotep for the first time, he summons her soul to be tortured in front of her son along with her husband just before the battle out of spite. Junko apologizes to Jun for only caring about her dreams and being blind to everything else. Following Nyarlathotep's victory, she was revived with no memory of her past misdeeds in the alternate timeline created by Philemon as a counter-move against his rival.

Metal Mama[]

In Xibalba, all powerful thoughts become reality. When Jun was reminded of his worst fears about his family life, it caused a copy of Junko known as "Metal Mama" to attack the party. It is a manifestation of Jun's worst fears towards his mother, claiming that Jun and Kashihara were burdens, her life would be better if he was never born, and that as his mother, she can do whatever she wants to him.

Eternal Punishment[]

"Her real name is "Junko Kashihara". She's a huge star and mother of Jun Kashihara. I feel I know her..."
—Introductory Description

In the alternate timeline, her husband was still alive and her life with him was a better one. However, she was one of the victims of the JOKER curse rumors spread by Chizuru Ishigami, turning her into a JOKER. She attacks Tatsuya on Chizuru's command, but is knocked out and cured off screen.
