"The fallen king embraced Sanctism and all its holy tenets, and for what? He was nothing before Lord Louis! Look to the sky all you wish... No God can save you! What our country needs... is power!"
Idaeus Glodell is a character in Metaphor: ReFantazio. He is a young warrior of the roussainte tribe and Louis Guiabern's subordinate.
Glodell is an ambitious and hostile man obsessed with power, which is the platform of his election campaign. It seems he is trying to impress Louis.[1]
Appearances[]
- Metaphor: ReFantazio: Minor antagonist
Design[]
Glodell is a tall, slim young man with a dark purple combover and pale skin. As a roussainte, he has distinctive large, knife-shaped ears.
His attire consists of a purple leopard-print coat with a chest window, black boots, ear piercings, and a gold necklace adorned with a miniature dagger.
Personality[]
Desperate for fame and arrogant to a fault, Glodell wants nothing more than to attain personal glory. His entire reason for joining Louis was to spread his name and gain the adulation of the masses. Unfortunately for him, he is woefully incompetent, and constantly makes blunders in his attempts to attain his goals, such as when he attempted to take on Gideaux in head-to-head combat despite him being protected by Hythlodaeus' magic, making such a battle near-impossible for him to win, or when he attempted to present the head of a small Human to appease the masses at Brilehaven, only to forget that most of the people had no idea what most Humans looked like and thus had no way of proving the authenticity of said head.
Despite his repeated failures, Glodell remains staunchly convinced that he is worthy of greatness. His ego runs so deep that he truly believes that he could eventually overthrow Louis with enough power. Despite his lofty self-confidence, he is also incredibly cowardly, being more than willing to gloat about his supposed power while holding Junah hostage, only to immediately grovel and beg for his life after she awakened to her Archetype and bested him with help from the protagonist. This trait ultimately proves to be his downfall when he attempted a dirty sneak attack on the protagonist, only to be stopped and promptly killed by the King's magic.
Despite his unsavory nature, he does seem to genuinely care about his hound, Hector, as he never goes anywhere without him.
