Hyperion was one of the Titans in Greek Mythology. He is the Titan of Light. In Ancient Greek literature, he is always distinguished from Helios. Hyperion was described as the 'God of Watchfulness and Wisdom' while Helios became the physical incarnation of the Sun.
"One of the Titans from Greek Mythology, his name means "The High One." He is the son of the earth goddess Gaia and the sky god Ouranos. He's also the father of the sun god Helios, the moon goddess Selene, and the dawn goddess Eos. In ancient times he was equated with Helios, but as time passed they came to be seen as distinct entities."
