"People are beasts of fear and superstition. Murderers without remorse. I've done nothing they've not done to me. Abominations; they are the unnatural. They deserve to die. They should all be so glad to nourish my child... My dear... sweet... child."
Homo Jaluzo is a human monster in Metaphor: ReFantazio. It is Sanctoress Joanna Calendula's pet who she believed was her child reincarnated.
Appearances[]
- Metaphor: ReFantazio: Minor antagonist
Profile[]
Sanctoress Joanna Calendula came across this creature after her newborn child was killed by his nanny over racial prejudices and delusionally believed that it was her child reincarnated. Being influenced by the melancholia exerted by the human and still in a depressive state, she kept it in a basement underneath Kriegante Castle and ordered her soldiers such as Morris to kidnap children and feed them to it, framing Heismay Noctule for the kidnappings in order to cover up her involvement. Joanna is a revered figure around Martira, Old Castle Town as a sanctoress and her involvement of the killings is kept under wraps, so she was able to get away with them and go beneath suspicion for at least six months, with 15 children being kidnapped and eaten by the human. Prisoners of the Martira guard corps are also executed by feeding them to the monstrosity, as seen with Captain Klinger. Despite being a large human with a horrific appearance, it appears to have retained some intelligence, as shown when it never attacks Joanna and listens to her orders, acting as if she was its mother.
When the party investigates and pursues Morris, he will occasionally summon the human to hunt down the party until they escape away to the other side of the corridor. If they are spotted by the human, a battle will occur. Defeating the human will cause it to flee.
The party finally catches up to Morris, who spots him speaking to Joanna. For his failures to catch the party as food for the human, she allows it to consume Morris. Heismay admonishes Joanna for her insanity, but to no avail, so the sanctoress summons it to attack them. If its HP is reduced to a low threshold for the first time, she will heal it once.
Eventually, the party manages to slay the monster, but decides to not bring its body to the exhibition as it would likely be accused of being a forgery. Having been snapped out from its influence, Joanna decides to offer herself as the party's head for the Exhibition of the Brave. This allows the party to take the opportunity to offer Joanna's head during the day of the exhibit.
A stronger variant known as Diabolus Jaluzo appears in the Tyrant's Star as one of the six optional bosses required to defeat Louis. Diabolus Jaluzo has upgraded resistances and stats compared to its regular counterpart. If the party does not defeat it, they will be facing a significantly stronger version of Louis' final human form. Killing it will yield the strongest weapons for the Gunner, Faker and Thief archetypes.
In battle, both Homo Jaluzo and its Diabolus counterpart makes baby-like voices, often on someone's turn or when attacking. Occasionally it would also make chomping or stomping sounds, but only when it's not near-death.

Trivia[]
- The party cannot kill Homo Jaluzo on the first turn. If its HP is dropped to 0 for the first time, it will remain at 1 HP and automatically trigger the scripted event where Joanna heals it.
